Meet Kate

Helping children discover the joy and confidence that come with learning to read has been the greatest privilege of my career.

For more than 30 years, I've worked alongside children and families, helping students overcome reading challenges, build confidence, and experience the success that comes when reading finally begins to make sense.

Throughout my career, I've served as a classroom teacher, special education teacher, and speech-language pathologist. Those experiences have given me a deep understanding of how children learn and have shaped the compassionate, individualized support I provide today.

Nothing brings me more joy than watching a child discover, "I can do this." Watching a child grow in confidence as a reader never gets old. Those moments remind me why I continue to do this work and why I believe so deeply that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed.

Experience & Credentials

With more than three decades in education, my background includes:

  • Credentialed Teacher in General and Special Education

  • Master's Degree in Communicative Disorders

  • Speech-Language Pathologist

  • Trained in Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy

  • Extensive experience supporting students with dyslexia and language-based reading challenges

  • Experience collaborating with educational psychologists and psychiatrists

This unique combination allows me to understand the whole child and provide individualized support that meets each student's unique learning needs.

A Little More About Me

When I'm not working with students, you'll usually find me at the barn spending time with horses.

Working with horses has taught me many of the same qualities that guide my teaching: patience, consistency, trust, and the importance of celebrating small successes along the way. They remind me that meaningful growth doesn't happen all at once. It happens through steady practice, encouragement, and believing in what's possible.

Those lessons stay with me every day and continue to shape the way I support children and their families.
